Sunday May 24th 2015: Fossils, Forts and Flora

Walk co-leading with Doug Lloyd for Herefordshire Wildlife Trust; further details of the HWT 2015 series of Living Landscape walks in the Woolhope Dome here. 13 walkers joined Doug, me and Keira (Doug's daughter) for a long, interesting and enjoyable day, during which we saw a great variety of landscapes, history and wildlife.

Our group of walkers about to leave the old orchard landscape of Checkley and cross Pentaloe Brook to cross the open fields of the Wenlock Shale vale and then climb the western edge of Joanshill Farm, across the Woolhope Limestone into Haugh Wood.
